Redmi 2 Prime – Flashing rom to fix softbrick

 

very simple steps that I wanted to write down to share with my brotherinlaw to fix the softbrick of Redmi 2 prime.

 

Prerequisites to flash the new rom:

1. MI Flashing tool from here.

2. MI ROM version 6.4 (Android 5.1) from here. ( ROM file only for 2 GB ram version)

 

Steps to Flash ROM :

1. Install downloaded MI Flash tool in PC and open it with Administrator rights.

   

2. Extract the downloaded rom file into C:\ROM

     Note : you can place it where ever you want but to avoid few silly issues I am suggesting you to place it on C:\ROM

3.  click Browse on the above screen , choose the extracted rom folder path which will be nearly like the below

       C:\ROM\wt88047_pro_global_images_6.12.29_20161228.0000.00_5.1_global_f9d84e81a8

        Note : make sure the chosen root folder has .bat and .sh

4. Turn off the phone, press and hold the Volume Down key and the Power button at the same time to enter Fastboot mode, then connect the phone to a computer and click Refresh button to see connected Device in below panel on the MI Flash tool

5. Choose any one of the below options before you hit flash

• Choose Flash All if you do not want any data including storage.
• Choose Flash All except storage if you just want to keep storage files.
• Choose Flash All except data and storage if you want to keep data and storage files ( all the app data will be remain the same)

6. Now hit Flash and wait for the progress.

    Note : it may take 5 to 20 mins to complete fully so please wait.

When you see the phone rebooted and you see first time setup screen which means you are successfully completed and safe to disconnect the phone from computer.

Stop auto play videos on Facebook account

 

 

most annoying feature that I never want to use on Facebook is auto play videos , even if you are in high bandwidth many times it is  creating  a lot of problems which really make you to frustrated.

Battery saver on LG G4 using Greenify without root

 

Today I would like to share my experience with LG G4 battery.

It has 3000 mAh battery with decent life even though QHD display but I wanted to make the battery to give some more life.

THIS METHOD CAN BE USED ON ANY ANDROID 4+ DEVICES.

On Play store there are lot of battery saver / doctor apps available but Greenify stands out of the crowd.

Tap to lock on Nova launcher – LG G4

 

Do you want to replace your default launcher in LG G4 / any android knock to lock phone  with Nova as your launcher  ?

you end up with double tap lock not working , there is simple workaround that you can do it .

 

1. Download free Screen Off & Lock app from Playstore

2. Install then open for the first time to activate tap to screen off & lock.

3. go to Nova settings –> Gesture –> Double tap –> choose Screen Off from the wizard.

That's it.

Remove Unlock Boot loader warning : Moto E

 

This guide will help you to remove Unlocked boot loader warning in Boot screen of Moto E devices.

if you are trying this on other device you have to have valid boot logo file to flash otherwise I am not responsibility if you brick your phone.

# Make sure you have Moto E drivers installed on your Windows PC \ Laptop or you can download it from here

# Moto E logo file from here

# fastboot drivers from here

Lets start now.

1. Extract fastboot drivers zip in to a folder and open CMD as administrator then navigate to extracted folder like the below screen

2. extract Moto E logo zip file then copy the “logo.bin”  into fastboot extracted folder where the location of Step 1.

3. connect Moto E to PC / Laptop with USB Debugging option enabled

4. go back to Step 1 opened CMD and type “adb reboot bootloader” hit enter

5. Moto E will reboot then you will see fastboot screen

6. type “fastboot flash logo logo.bin” hit enter now you will see the below on your Moto E screen.

7. Now reboot to system by sending this following command “adb reboot system” hit enter

 

Now you should see the that the Unlocked warning message gone.

Unlock Moto E Boot loader

 

1 . Download Moto E Device manager and install for Drivers (Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10) from here

2 . Download ADB & Fastboot Driver from here

3. Enable Developer options :

    Settings –> About phone –> hit the “Build number” until you see notification that says you are Developer

4. Open CMD as Administrative and go to the extracted ADB & Fast boot drivers folder like below

5. boot your Moto E to fast boot loader (press Volume UP + Down key + Power button and hold)  once you see fast boot screen connect to Computer / Laptop then type “ fastboot oem get_unlock_data “ then hit enter and you will see like below

6. copy all 5 lines of code into notepad and remove only spaces.

7. Login to Motorola site using Google account then on the 6th step paste the code which you made it ready on the above 6th step then click “Can my device be unlocked ?” the unlock key will be in your inbox in few minutes.

you will see errors if you still have spaces otherwise you can see “Request Key “ on the bottom of the page.

8. Go back to the CMD window that you have already opened in Step 4 then type “ fastboot oem unlock” UNIQUE_KEY

Note: UNIQUE_KEY – should be replaced with key that you received in your email from Motorola.

9. keep watch your Moto E screen that will reboot then show you the below screen that means you are completed Unlocking

Now you are good to flash any recoveries and custom roms.

Lollipop for N7000 Note I

 

I have been testing two lollipop custom roms on my old Note I.

1. NightOwl http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-t2938649

2. Resurrection : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-resurrection-remix-lp-5-2-0-t2982773

both are doing very well.

I would thanks to Bauner & varund7726 for giving the life to our old Note I

both roms are based on CM12

so CM12 bugs will be there until it is fixed from CM

I already posted about the Resurrection Remix rom now I would like to share the Installation details of NightOWL

1. Copy Rom + Google Apps to your device.
2. Boot into recovery
3  Factory Reset (Recommended to avoid any FC or bootloops)
4. Flash the Rom and Gapps.
5. Reboot

this stock kernel supports trim otherwise you can use Raw9

I have been using many tricks to use whatsapp on my PC but the day has came, yeah no more tricks required

How to make more battery life on ASUS Zenfones 4/4.5/5/6

 

I know why you are here and reading my post, are you frustrated because of bad battery life of your Zenfones?

No worries. My Bro bought Zenfone 5 and he is very impressed by that phone, obviously me too, the performance and the premium look is really great.  But after couple of days he is not happy with the battery life, he tried with many battery saving options which is provided by ASUS, unfortunately that was not so helpful so he sold his phone through OLX.

Let me help you guys to extend your battery life a bit. So you can use your phone as a daily driver.

Step 1 . Enable  “Developer options”  which will give you more possibilities to manage your phone.

             To Enable  :-  Go to Settings –> About Phone –> on “Build number”  Tap 5 times continuously”.

             To Verify  :- Go back to Settings and you should see “Developer Options”.

The build number may vary on your phone.

Step 2 . Go to Settings –> Developer options (make sure its “On”) –> Background Process limit  and set to 2 or 1 as you wish.

            

Step 3. Turn On the Smart Saving function in Ultra Saving Mode.

Step 4. Disable Auto Brightness and keep it low as much you feel that you can manage.

Whats App on your any windows PCs

 

are you looking for workaround to get Whatsapp working on your Windows / MAC PCs ?

here is the quick workaround.

Step 1. Install Android Emulator(BlueStacks)  from here

Step 2. Once Installed open it and it will ask you for your existing / New Gmail account to sync (provide that)

Step 3. Download / Install the Whatsapp from Google Play store with in the Android Emulator.

Step 4.  Open the Whatsapp for the first time you may need verify your cell number

Step 5. Enter your cell number by choosing correct country then let the whatsapp verify automatically verify your number through SMS.

Note :  It should fail  but it will ask for “Call Me” verification method ,once you click “Call Me” button you will receive call to your cell phone , the voice will keep telling the code repeatedly, you just type that code on you PC (where exactly you are  in setup wizard of Whatsapp).

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 launch–watch live

Fix :- Missing USB- Mass storage on Slim roms

 

I have been using Slim roms for better battery life on my galaxy note, everything worked perfect apart from USB Mass storage but found the fix after digging into XDA.

here is the simple fix.

Note :- this fix will works only on rooted phones

1. Download Android Terminal Emulator (Free) from Google Playstore

2. open the installed Terminal Emulator and execute the below commands one at a time.

  “su”  hit enter and choose allow for Super User privilege
  “setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb”  hit enter

  “reboot”  hit enter to reboot your device.

You are done.

I was facing problem with Kit Kat 4.4.2 on my Galaxy note , unable to play the movies continuously which is stored in SD-card  and access related issues so I felt the Kit Kat not stable I did not know that it is due to the permission then when I found the fix I really started to love this Kit Kat.  my favorite is SlimKat (very stable).

OTG features mostly on Any Android Device *

 

How to bring OTG feature on any android device of course  its based on hardware but many mobile phones not coming with OTG enabled by the stock roms but you can made them to be used on the same device by flashing the any advanced custom roms with root access.

What are the requirements?
-------------------------------------------
• root (su binary) -  ( if you have root please ignore)
• supporting kernel / kernel modules - (this application will tell you whether you have this or  not once installed)
• USB OTG cable ( or direct card reader)

1. Install “USB OTG Checker” from Google Play.

    before try this please check this link for already confirmed list where stated for working devices.

    is this your device already there in the list wow! you are good to go.if not do not worry follow step 2.

2. Process is very simple just open the installed USB OTG Checker  and choose Check Device OS on USB OTG

which will tell you whether your device rom has the API or not if you get the green result yes you have it.go to step 3.

  

3. Choose Check USB OTG Signal which will ask you to re plug the OTG cable to check signals

   if its tells green result yes you are good to go.

 

4. just exit USB OTG Helper connect your pen drive through OTG Cable into your device.

 

5. open ES File explorer (or any file explorer)  navigate to “/mnt” and look for “usbstorage”

   you should able to see your pen drive date over there.
